Indoor Smore's

One of our favorite things about summertime is having a bon fire and making smore's. To me nothing says summer better than having a fire going, roasting marshmallows and chasing fireflies. :) The past week or so we have been getting a lot of rain and thunderstorms so we haven't been able to get out much in the evenings and I was really wanting some smore's. I found this recipe and had to try it out! I am so glad I did!

I made these on Saturday while my hubby and kids had a water gun fight (we beat the rain for a bit this weekend). They were so easy to put together, my hubby came in as I was pulling them out of the oven (they baked for 30 minutes) and said "you did this while we were outside?" I said "yeah.." he said "wow, you are amazing" oh, I love him....but really they were just too easy to put together!

We had some after dinner and they were delicious!! We still have a few left today and they are just as good (if not better) as they were on day one. These will definitely become a go to dessert in our home! You must try them out.

 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 king-sized milk chocolate bars (e.g. Hershey’s)
1 1/2 cups marshmallow creme/fluff (not melted marshmallows)
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light. Beat in egg and vanilla. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture and mix at a low speed until combined.
Divide dough in half and press half of dough into an even layer on the bottom of the prepared pan. Place chocolate bars over dough. 2 king-sized Hershey’s bars should fit perfectly side by side, but break the chocolate (if necessary) to get it to fit in a single layer no more than 1/4 inch thick. Spread chocolate with marshmallow creme or fluff. Place remaining dough in a single layer on top of the fluff (most easily achieved by flattening the dough into small shingles and laying them together).
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Step one, I was amazed at how easy it was to put the dough into the pan..its not sticky at all so it is really easy to form.

I didn't have any king size hersheys bar, but I did have 3 regular sized ones so I just tossed in some chocolate chips to cover the bare spots.

My mom knows that my oldest loves fluffernutter sandwiches so she just gave us this jar of fluff last week.....I will have to thank her for that ;-)

The hardest part of this whole thing was putting the fluff on, it was just a little tricky to spread out, but not too bad...I thought the top layer of dough might be really hard to do, but it was a breeze! Just take little pieces and flatten it out before laying it down.

Bake for about 30 minutes!

                                                                     ENJOY!!!!!!
